File Protection Definition/Meaning:
The protection of files, and the data in files, from inadvertent
or unauthorized alteration and deletion. This protection may be completely
physical, as with the storage of file media in fire- and thief-proof locations,
partly physical and partly logical, as with the provision of
write permit rings on magnetic tape reels, or totally logical, as with the use
of data and file retention periods in file header blocks.
