Mailbox Definition/Meaning:  

A repository - often secure - for documents or data that have been transmitted via an electronic mail system. For documents there are usually a number of mailboxes associated with a printer and they are similar in principal to the sorter pockets on large office copiers. Information for an addressee can be sent via a communication line to an electronic mail station where it may be printed out and automatically put into the mailbox designated in the address. The addressee will access the data via his own terminal by sending his unique identifying code.
